We invite you to the 2021 Saving Lives: Health Equity and Justice Reform in Tobacco Policy – a forum to address equity and safety in commercial tobacco/vape prevention, and enforcement practices.
Join us for a forum on current trends and policy solutions urgently needed in Washington State. Youth who are targeted by the commercial tobacco/vaping industry will be leading this conversation along with community and national experts.
The disparities of use among BIPOC and LGBTQ individuals remain high, especially since COVID-19. The laws, policies, and resources that are intended to reduce tobacco use and tobacco-related harm are not reaching those who are most impacted. The pandemic has only amplified the underlying health inequities and systemic racism has been impacting Black and Brown communities, including those who are LGBTQ, for hundreds of years.
We hope to see you there! Together, we can advance policy that supports healthy communities.

Phillip S. Gardiner, DrPH, African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council
A public health activist, administrator, evaluator and researcher. For the past 25 years, he has worked on studies ranging from Multiculturalism to Smoking. He lectures across the country on African American health disparities and the impact of menthol smoking on the Black community.
