Description: This virtual 90-minute training serves as an overview of DC:0-5™ Diagnostic Classification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders of Infancy and Early Childhood. The training provides a foundation for understanding this diagnostic system for professionals who work with infants and young children. The training will provide participants with an overview of the background, approach, and content areas of DC:0-5™ and is particularly helpful for allied professionals in understanding the importance of developmentally appropriate diagnostic practices.

Training Modality: Training will be provided with adult learning principles and sensitivity to learning styles in mind. This presentation is didactic with opportunities for reflection and questions.

Learning Objectives for DC:0-5™Training: This brief overview will aim to meet the following learning objectives:

Consider the importance of utilizing a developmentally sensitive, relationship based and contextually grounded system of diagnostic classification with children from birth through 5 years old.

Learn the DC:0-5 approach to diagnosis including, the maintenance of a multi-axial approach.

Become familiar with the content and framework of key sections of DC:0-5.

Explore the importance of interdisciplinary approach to children with mental health and developmental disorders in infancy and early childhood.

Understand the relationship between DC:0-5, DSM-5 and ICD-10.
