Hospital at Home for Rural Communities @ online

Telehealth’s explosion during the pandemic made it possible to receive health care from nearly anywhere. Hospital at home has quickly evolved from doctors making house calls to a hybrid telehealth model, blending bedside care with the safety of 24/7 virtual access to a health care team from the comfort of your home. This care delivery model not only benefits the patient by making high-quality health care more accessible, it has also been shown to reduce costs, improve outcomes, and enhance patient experience. While hospital at home has primarily been instituted in urban spaces, this webinar will explore how rural communities have much to gain from this care delivery model as well.

Speakers: Dr. Margaret Paulson, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, and Maren Nordenberg, Mayo Clinic Health System

 Objectives

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify health care concerns that may be solved by implementing a hospital at home model of care in your organization
  • Recognize the barriers in launching a hospital at home program, and the limitations of acute care in the home
  • Reflect on lessons learned from a rural hospital at home program
